LANGKAWI ISLAND
Langkawi is an ancient group of islands located on the northwestern shore of Peninsular Malaysia. Captive imaginations are brought forth by the island's rich heritage of myths and legends that permeates from her existence.

Langkawi has 99 magical islands to be explored. Each with a beauty and attraction of it's own. The island has a size of 47 848 hectare which is covered by two thirds by mountains and tropical rain forest.
The distance to "Kuala Perlis" on the mainland is 30 km, to "Kuala Kedah" 51 and to the Island "Penang" 105 km.
Langkawi is split into 6 districts: Mukim Kuah, Padang Matsirat, Ayer Hangat, Bohor, Ulu Melaka and Kedawang. At January 1st 1987 Langkawi was declared as a free port.
